چکیده
In the present work, microstructure and mechanical properties of microwave welded Al6061-6%Graphite-SiC hybrid metal matrix composites (MMC) were investigated. The welding was carried out using principle heating Al6061 powder as an interfacial material. domestic oven having frequency 2.45 GHz 900 W power used for experiments. charcoal a susceptor during process. MMCs Al6061-6%Gr-SiC developed through stir casting process with different weight percentage SiC keeping graphite constant. joints characterized x-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscope (SEM) equipped energy-dispersive spectrum (EDS), Rockwell hardness tester universal testing machine. diffraction analysis showed presence harder aluminum carbide oxide phases. microstructural study revealed good metallurgical bonding between absence cracks. elemental joint aluminum, carbon oxygen other elements. average ultimate tensile strength recorded 135 MPa 4.3% elongation. at weld observed 61.5 ± 5 HRB. evaluation indicated increase in content reinforcement increased. found to be 65.15% parent composite, which is similar aluminum-based by various techniques such friction welding, laser beam etc. investigation has that energy can successfully, alternative method composites.

متن کاملExperimental Investigations on Microstructural and Mechanical Behavior of Friction Stir Welded Aluminum Matrix Composite
The welding of materials by applying Friction Stir Welding technique is a new solid-state joining technique. The main advantage of this method compared to the traditional joining process is that it minimizes problem-related to metal resolidification as the method incorporates no melting phase. In this experimental work, the effect of friction stir welding (FSW) technique on the microstructu...

متن کاملCasting of SiC Reinforced Metal Matrix Composites
Composites based on two aluminium alloys (A536 and 6061) reinforced with 10% or 20% volume fraction of SiC particles were produced by gravity casting and a novel two-step mixing method was applied successfully to improve the wettability and distribution of the particles. The SiC particles were observed to be located predominantly in the interdendrit ic regions, and a thermal lag model is propos...
